We now have a plan

The nurse from the GI's office called. We now have some sort of

plan in place. At least I can hold onto that for a bit and hope it

works or at least gets us through the next few days....

Max is going to start taking Erythromycin three times a day. Low

doses of this med are sometimes used to increase gastric emptying.

One extra benefit is that he will no longer need to take the

Tetracycline that he was taking for his acne and possibly

aggravating things. The new antibiotic will take care of two things

at once. Let's just hope Max tolerates it. I cannot take the drug

in any dose. I become violently ill. I'm not telling Max that,

though.

Also, Max is having an endoscopy done on Thursday. This is good

because the GI will be able to get in there and take a good look at

what is going on.

We are also changing Max's diet in a major way. He is going to have

to strictly adhere to a diet that will not contain foods that

aggravate reflux and eat small meals more frequently. I know he is

a growing teenager, but he will just have to learn to eat a little

at a time. No more teenage binging.

I also have to call the Mind/Body Institute to get Max an

appointment to learn breathing exercises to help control the

rumination. There are specific ones to do for this purpose.

Now I am off to the pharmacy to pick up the new antibiotic and the

Zoloft that he is going to start. At least now there is a plan. It

may not work right away, but I am so glad there is a PLAN!
