Guest guest
Thanks to Jodi and Leah, I went and calculated the BMI (and I am just reading an email from ne, she calculated it too; what a doll! ) Adam's BMI is 17.4 and that is " normal " for normal people. But I calculated it at the age of 12.8 years (his last official measurements) and that has him falling around the 35 percentile. So I guess that's good?? Ha as if I know or not. but as I have always maintained his weight is and has always been really good for his height. It's just that at the age of 12,8 years should he only be 138 cm?? (4 foot 7 " )??????? That's the 64 million dollar question. Thanks all!!! Debby Re: weight for height Hey Deb, If Adam's off the chart now you'll have to switch to using a BMI chart. There are several automatic calculators on the net if you do a " BMI calculator " search. I just checked Olivia's too and it's not good at all. She's 5 boxes below the 3rd%ile line!!! I'm wondering at this point how it will affect our quest for GH? She eats amazing amounts of food on eating days, even when she's having a bad eating day she still eats something even if it's only 3 bites. On a good eating day she'll eat 2 chicken legs, 10 full asperagus spears and noodles!! and still want a snack an hour later. I just don't know how to get any more into her? Cyproheptadine was miserable as she got extremely cranky, angry and tired! I just don't understand how the dr's here can say she's doing fine when I see other kids heavier than her getting good care? Sorry for the small vent, things have just been coming to a head here. Leah, mom to 10 and Olivia 5yrs 11mo, 22lbs, 36 " . > > Well I finally found the time to get to the growth charts. How disappointing. The charts don't go high enough for Adam. These " weight-for-stature " charts only go to 120 cm and Adam is 138. 3 cm and 33.2 kg (well he WAS back in June). > I was looking forward to figuring this out. Now if I go all the way back to when he was under 120 cm. (I have one measurement at 9 years, 7 months old) He was 117.9 cm and 21 kg that puts him smack tab in the middle of the 25th to 50th percentile. > So does that mean it's too much? Or just right? I was just hoping he would make the 15th. > Anyone have any thoughts on where I can get " bigger " charts and/or what it means to be in the 25th-50th percentiles? > > Deb > > >
Guest guest
leah, Hi. What is Cyproheptadine? I too feel like no matter what I do I can't get chloe to grow. Everyone's kid seem to be bigger than Chloe and I have chloe on gh, I did not realize till i found this group only days ago that I needed to wait to start gh until she was a certain weight/height%, I don't really even know what that means.I feel so uninformed, like I've been doing my daughter a big injustice.I've known shes had rss since was 9 months old and I am now only finding out so much.I had so much fait in her doctors, what have I done? Help, Reah and Chloe:) Deb wrote: Thanks to Jodi and Leah, I went and calculated the BMI (and I am just reading an email from ne, she calculated it too; what a doll! ) Adam's BMI is 17.4 and that is " normal " for normal people.
