Guest guest
Hello. I am back from Lily's appointment with Dr. Ponseti. Wow! She really needed to be there. I am so impressed with Dr. Ponseti and his staff. Bad news first. Lily's clubfeet are quite severe and resistant (something my local ortho never mentioned). Also, my local ortho had missed tons of problems with Lillian's feet or just couldn't handle feet of her severity...no matter, that's behind us. I don't know the technical term for it but Lily had zero to very little movement possible in all directions. We are looking at three casts and possibly another tenotomy and possibly the tendon transfer. Sorry, in case you missed it, that is the GOOD news! There is hope, it isn't too late and Dr. Ponseti can help her. Dr. Ponseti was incredibly kind and attentive (and knowledgeable might be the understatement of the year). I am so excited to have her in to him before it was too late. He also confirmed all the things I knew in my heart...the severity of her clubfeet, her difficulty and lack of desire for standing, the turning of her feet, and then of course some I didn't know about. I won't go into details but the future would not have been the best for Lily if she hadn't been to see Dr. Ponseti (or another Ponseti certified doctor). Lillian has adjusted very quickly to the full leg casts, even crawling this afternoon. And her mama is so happy to have dodged the bullet of what would have been. Thanks again for pushing me into different care. If you fellow clubfeet moms and dads weren't out there spreading the word through this board, my poor baby's (and others) prognosis would not be very good. I am so grateful for Dr. Ponseti's wise treatment. > > > > Thanks all for the posts. While you scared the heck out of me, you > got > > me moving to something better.
