Guest guest
Tabitha, I'd say, if his sleep changed that day... you've got your culprit! Which bar? If it's adjustable, just change it. So, they measured his shoulders... are his heels 12 " apart or the bolts? Really, it's his comfort that is what you should go by. As long as he's not pulling out of the shoes, or night waking because it's too short (which is normal - sign of time to lengthen) and his heels aren't pulling out/marks forming you hadn't seen before, you can feel comfortable at bolt to bolt (which is shorter than heel to heel). Sleep changes are the main sign that the bar length is wrong. Especially if you have had a child who was just fine before. Let us know how he reacts! I bet you'll see your normal little boy once you change it. If you've got an infinitely adjustable bar, maybe make it 11 " and see how that works. If that doesn't work, go down a bit till it does. Guest guest
I don't think it would be any problem if you adjusted the bar back to 10 " . The bar length contributes to the child's comfort as well as keeping them from slipping their feet out of the shoes. If Karter's feet did not slip out before and he was comfortable with the bar length at 10 " , then, in my opinion, it would be fine to put it back to 10 " . This is the 3rd day and we are just wondering if the length change could be the problem? Or could it be that that rt. foot is still tight? But you would think that he would have been bothered before. Guest guest
Kori, Thanks, I will move it back. If you have ever been to see Dr. Ponseti you know it is very don't know the word that I want, but there where 4 other Dr's with him, plus us and Nurse . So is actually the one that measured and adjusted the bar. At this time I was trying to listen to what Dr. Ponseti was saying to the other Dr.'s there visiting. He is in the shoes. When they were sent in Feb. we held them up to his shoulders and it looked good so we left them. He has had no problems since, no slipping, some red marks, but no open sores. He sleeps from 6pm to 7:30am normally and hasn't slept for more than an hour since changing the length. He is out of the shoes for his 8 hours today will move the length and let you know how tonight goes. Guest guest
or maybe try 11 " if they felt that 10 was getting too short When we were at our appt. on Wen. they adjusted Karter's bar out to 12 in. they did measure and that is where it should be. It was around 10 inc. before. We are having problems with him sleeping since this change. Can I put it back to 10 or not. What damage will it do to his feet. He is pulling at the shoes and will not sleep at all. This is the 3rd day and we are just wondering if the length change could be the problem? Or could it be that that rt. foot is still tight?
