Guest guest
Zofran. It is a prescription medicine to stop vomiting. It is VERY expensive and usually only used at hospitals. It is a pill however, so younger kids may have to have it smashed up. It is a MIRACLE drug..... What our pediatrician explained is that often times kids vomit once, and then the repeated vomiting makes it impossible to get food down. This medicine was something like $50 a pill.... She called it in to our pharmacy never thinking they would authorize it. They did!!! The caseworker later said that is is much cheaper than a hospital admission. About 10 months ago, Tyler threw up repeatedly, and then started getting a stomach ache. We gave her 2 pills during that 24 hours, and she never threw up, and we gave her noodles and toast to keep her stomach calm. Never spilled ketones and we made it through the 24 hour bug that Tyler had bad!!! And our copay on the pills was something like $25 (they gave us 6 pills, if I recall correctly). Best " insurance " I could get. The name of the medication again is ZOFRAN. Hope this helps someone else!
