We must have just missed you today at Dr. Herzenberg for our daughter's

YEARLY checkup. My daughter, Zoe is now 5! She is doing fabulous. Dr.

Herzenberg was very pleased. For details about our story, check out

www.geocities.com/joannewalton2003/clubfootstory.html

Depending on whether or not your insurance would cover Physical Therapy, you

might want to investigate having join a gym program. Zoe's been going

to My Gym. There's also the Little Gym. The one hour classes end up being

about $17 each plus she can attend a free play another day of the week.

In addition, they have special events, like Parents' Night Out twice a month

and Mom's Afternoon Out for an additional fee. These things are great for

parents like us with no family support nearby.

In the classes, they do things like heel walking and tiptoe walking among

other things(two things Dr. Herzenberg had Zoe do today.) They do everything

in a very fun way. Lots of games and fabulous equipment. Very positive.

We have coverage for Physical Therapy, but the copay would be $30 per

session. Plus, Zoe really enjoys being with the other kids whereas I believe

PT is generally one on one.

Hope this helps! Joanne W. mom to Zoe, 3-25-01, right clubfoot

(Dr. Herzenberg is our third doctor!)

Subject: Physical Therapy Question/ Straight Last shoes Question

Hello all.. We just got back from a visit with Dr. Herzenberg and he took

off

's cast and his feet look soooo good. He was in them due to a relapse.

He

said that although they look great, he just wants us to know that they could

always relapse up until the age of 5. I am so scared and nervous about all

of

this happening again. It was a nightmare having a 2 year old in casts for a

month. Anyway, my question is this- he told us about some excercises that

can be

done with 3 times a day to help strenthen his feet. I was wondering if

any

of you take your kids in for physical therapy and if it helps. I would love

all

of the help I can get right now to make sure that his perfect little feet

stay

perfect! Another question I have is this- Have any of your kids been in the

straight last shoes? He thinks that this will also be helpful. I made an

appt.

to get fitted for them, but I was wondering, what are the shoes like?

Will

he be comfortable in them? Thanks.
