Oh, definitely! Kids can do everything in the bar that they would do otherwise.

The older kids will waddle all over the place in the bar. I just have to make

sure to keep mine off the stone or linoleum floors.Kori's DArby can walk

anywhere though! It's pretty impressive. Tell your M-I-L not to worry too much:)

it

a question I need to call the doc. for. What do you think? I would assume that

if babies sit up, crawl, pull to a stand, and eventurally walk wearing the the

brace, then, then it's okay for them to practice standing supported on your lap

once they're ready...

of course it's ok. In fact, it's good. Helps them build leg muscles

and also helps stretch the tendon(s). By all means, encourage

standing in and out of the brace.

Of course they can!! Some parents have even adapted the exersaucer

so that their child can play in it while still in the shoes-ie

velcroing the seat cushion so that its easier to get the baby in and

out. I love the cricket story/metaphor for your son-I can so see him

rubbing his legs in that manner. You may want to check with your

doctor and see if a cortisone/anti itch cream may be needed for the

area. My son is 22 mo old and can walk, crawl, cruise, jump, play in

his fab when he is in it. It's his own personal skateboard!!

take care,

My son is 19 months and walks in his shoes. As soon as he got them,

when he was tiny, we had him on our laps standing in the shoes. He

loved it, and we saw absolutely no ill effects from it - either to

the shoes/bar or to him!

I asked our doctor about this as well when Aleksander first got his

shoes, and she said it was a good idea to have him bear weight on

his feet, whether in the shoes or not.

Absolutely a child can stand in your lap, etc. while wearing the brace. My

daughter has been doing it for several months now. (She is eight months old.)

When I talk to people, including family members, about her club feet and the

brace, etc. I always tell them that she will be able to do anything else that

anyone else can do. This includes standing in someone's lap. If you want, you

can tell MIL you consulted with some club foot experts who told you it was okay.
