Like better sleep pattern soon after instead of the exact amount of time to get out of the system such as a few months or a year? 4) What would be peptide problems? Thanks again! Sue.... Guest guest
Ok lets see 1. The time frame varies from child to child. It can take up to one year or it may happen in months. 2.Because the theory is gluten and casein act like drugs in the body-it can cause sleep problems-a very common problem for children on the spectrum/ 3 Yes-they crave the drugged feeling they had before removing gluten or casein 4If your child has a peptide problem-once you eliminate gluten and casein sleep patterns may improve. It did for us.F More questions..TIA > How long does it take to get gluten out of one's system? A week, a few days? > > Does gluten intake cause sleep problems? Guest guest
Generally it wont take as long to see benefits{better sleep} as it woul for the gluten to clear the body. We saw improvmints in sleep with in two months-but this is not typical-it usually takes a bit longer . next are peptides The theory is that some kids with ASD are unable to break down the protien from gluten and casein completely. This incomplete break down causes the peptides to form- now the next theory is that the stomach lining is somhow damaged{by vaccines, yeast overgrowth, ect.} The damaged lining allows the peptides to pass through into the blood{somthing that it should not do} These peptides make their way to the brain and attach them selves to opiate receptors and actually act like drugs in the childs system. The body has the same respone to the peptides as it would to taking morphine or heroin-this is thought to be the cause of many behavoirs in children with ASD-it also makes learning very difficult. If you remove gluten and casein from the diet you alleviate the problem. The diet must be followed untill the gut has healed but know one yet can say for sure how to heal it. Although there are theorys about that too-like yeast control, chelation, and enzyme use. These interventions have worked to heal the gut in some but not all.F Re: More questions..TIA > In a message dated 10/4/01 4:31:57 PM Pacific Daylight Time, > lisacna@... writes: > > > > Ok lets see > > > > 1.
