Oh Squeek, I hate to hear this. Poor .. she has had her share and has kept a great attitude through it all. Thanks for the update. I will send out a card for her tomorrow and keep her in my prayers. DARN IT ANYWAY!!!!!! UGGGHHH ! Did I mention that I hated RP?

Squeek I hope you are resting and get to feeling better. I just can't stand to see so many so sick. Don't think I have ever seen it happen all at once like this before.

Glad that is is not clearly kidney disease! Whew! Love, n Rojas

update on

The clinic called today. The urine sample had not come back from the

lab but when they checked it themselves with the strip it came back with

a small trace of protein. The doctor seems to think that this small

amount would not indicate a problem with the kidneys. However, if the

swelling does not improve by Friday, they want some blood work done.

She seems to think that it is a viral infection, thought it could be

mono. He has some redness blotches around his wrists that have moved up

his arm. Sometimes they are really visible and other times they aren't.

It's really weird. His mood is fine, a little more irritable than

normal. I am just confused and frustrated. Why can't he just have

something where they can say, " this is the problem, this is what is

causing it, this is how we fix it! " Is that asking too much!!

Yeah Amber! And Yeah for ! I'm so glad. Hopefully he will

realize that this is not going to be a bad experience for him and he

will be able to have the next few casts without crying.

Amber,

I am so glad you were able to get in with Dr. Dobbs yesterday.

I saw your posts from over the weekend but not until it was too late

to do anything. I was worried about you and asked Dr. Dobbs if you

were able to make it in yesterday. He gave me pretty much the same

report you did here - great news!

Tom and family,

Thanks for the update. You won't regret going to see Dr Frick for that second

opinion. He is a very experienced doctor and his own son was born with

clubfoot. The fact that his now-teenaged son is dealing with the aftermath of

surgical correction makes him all that more dedicated to treating babies with

the Ponseti method. I know that there are a few of his patients in this group,

hopefully some of them will chime in here.

Good news, too, that Dr Ponseti isn't seeing anything too alarming in the

pictures of 's feet. In the second set of pictures you sent to CFPics,

's feet actually looked much better than in the first (albeit to my

untrained eye). It's hard to diagnose without actually feeling of the feet, but

Dr Ponseti seems to have a flair for it! Dr Frick, of course, will be able to

tell you just what's going on.

As far as the brace goes, I know that a few of Dr Frick's patients are

using it. And lots of families here in the group have experience with getting

insurance to pay for it and so on. If you have any questions about any of that,

you know where to ask them.

Please keep us updated on 's progress.

CFPics group, I contacted Dr. Ponseti, Dr. Dobbs, and Dr. Herzenberg

to get an opinion on 's feet. All three of them suggested we

go see Dr. Frick, since he's only 3 hours from here. Ponseti

actually called us a little while ago! The good news is he doesn't

think 's correction is that off, and said they may want to do

one more cast to get some more dorsiflection, but then to try the

shoes instead. In his opinion 's " chubby feet " were

too wide for the Markell shoes, and this was where most of the

discomfort was.

I'm glad to find out our current doctor may not have been as far off

as was feared. We saw him today as well, and he didn't see any

problems with the way 's feet were sitting in the shoe -- only

said the socks were kinda thick (I'm not sure what to make of this

one -- they were the Target brand Circo baby socks with grippers on

the bottom, not the thinnest I've seen but pretty much normal, solid

colored socks). Evidently not too thick to evaluate the feet without

taking the socks off though. We're sticking with our socks, and

trying to keep the brace on as well even though doesn't like

it. If the correction is not bad, we don't want to cause a relapse

by taking it off. We're also going to go see Dr. Frick next Monday

for a second opinion, just to make sure things are ok.

Thanks again for the help and support.

Hi Tom,

Sorry I kind of disappeared for the weekend, but I see that you got

some good advice while I was away from my computer. I think you'll

be in good hands with Dr. Frick, I'm sure you'll be pleased and happy

that you got the second opinion. I see in the first set of pictures

the same thing - the rockerbottom that everyone else sees, but not so

much in the second group. I believe there is a bit of it, but if

they plan to recast it should be fixable. I would be sure to mention

to Dr. Frick that you think he might have rocker bottom, just to be

sure that is brought up.

I think one of the other posts mentioned the length of the bar and

when looking at the one picture of him in the brace I have to say

that I think his heels look too close together. I'm sure you've

checked this, but I know you are getting the shoes on tight and his

heels are really rising up - it could be due to his lack of

dorsiflexion but I would also definitely attribute it to bar length

based on that picture. Since you are not going to Dr. Frick until

next monday, if there is anyway your orthotics shop would trade you

for a longer bar, or an adjustable one, that would be helpful for

keeping him in the brace and comfortable in the interim.

I wish you and your family all the best, we'll be looking forward to

hearing from you with updates!

That's great news Tom & !! It's amazing what one or two properly

applied Ponseti casts can do! Like I mentioned in my earlier post,

our daughter only had 4 casts with no tenotomy and was rated a 5.5

out of 6 in severity. We see Dr. Shafique Pirani in Vancouver BC.

It is also good to hear that Dr. Ponseti thinks that only one or 2

casts will be needed for ! I have heard good things about Dr.

Frick and know that he has used the 's as well. will

probably be much more comfy in them. If you do decide to go with the

's which you may want to after having issues in the

Markell's, make sure that you get the impression kit done BEFORE

casting is done to get them ordered, don't let that get overlooked as

they do take some time to get shipped.

Good luck on Monday and please let us know how it goes!! And ps,

those socks are FINE haha doc's sometimes, honestly! The kind with

the grippers on the bottom are just what you want him in ;)

Hi, I just wanted to share some very exciting news. We traveled from

Houston to Dallas on Friday to see the Ponseti certified doctor in

Texas for her 3 month check up. The Dr. confirmed that her feet were

doing great and now has told us to go nights only. Our next checkup is

in 6 months. We are so happy that everything is working out and

although we didn't have a certified doctor in California, he did a

good job (even with the tweaks). is 7 months old now and

definitely looking forward to the new freedom. She'll probably start

crawling any day now. Just wanted to keep you guys updated.

Thanks,

& (11/22/05 - bcf - dbb 12hr/7d)
