You may want to try vanilla soy milk with protein powder..I can stomach vanilla soy milk with bananas, but I'm home now and have a blender. >> Anita: These are some great ideas. I agree that protein drinks are a great way to stay hydrated AS WELL AS get that protein in.... I used different powders with Lactaid milk and also some pre-made drinks in the first days post-op b/c I just didn't feel like blending anything (I use a hand blender). Another protein shake powder that is much 'lighter' is ISOPURE. I hear they also have pre-made drinks in cans/bottles, but I haven't found those yet. It is a 'clear' powder and I mix it with water. I only need to use a fork to mix it up! It's so easy... I've been using it exclusively while travelling b/c I can't mess with milk and/or blenders, etc. I got bags of the stuff and one bag has 50 gms/protein... I use half a bag in an 8 oz glass of water, so each drink is 25 gms/protein. I got the strawberry flavor and it really is quite pleasant!!! I highly recommend the ISOPURE mix to anyone if they haven't tried it yet. One more hint, I've found that most drinks are best ICE COLD -- the aftertaste and/or smell is greatly reduced when I add some ice or use refrigerated water in the mix.... Hope this finds everyone well -- It isn't easy to find protein mixes that one likes, but hopefully the experience on these boards can help the new post-ops choose something that will work for them! all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/mt.
