If have the surgery I > can't have sushi ever again?? > Sandy LOL Sandy, please don't panic! You can have anything you wish to eat after DS surgery. I let my tummy be the boss, whatever it wants, that's what it gets. Sushi probably wouldn't have been something I would have chosen in the first 8 weeks post-op, but now, about anything goes. Oh, and I had sushi just last week...yum! Michele B., Cols, Ohio Failed VBG 1986 Revision - Open BPD/DS 7/14/00 Wt 320/161.5 BMI 50.2/25.8 -158.5 pounds Dr. P. Guest guest
Hi , God..I would go into diabetic shock. No last suppers. Trying to chew foods instead of swallowing whole. The biggest item I will miss( for a while) is Sushi. If I have to give it up, thats cool with me. I'm tired being in this obese body. There is a thin guy just waiting to get out and start his live. I'm scared shitless but this is something I have to do for myself. Guest guest
! You have so much to look forward to! Won't your diabetes be practically gone when all is said and done? MMMMMMMMM, Japanese food! Also scared shitless and so close to puking about it that it would (will?) interfere with my Last Supper(s?), > > Thanks a lot, Nick! <hear: sarcasm> > > > > I was trying VERY hard NOT to do The Last Supper(s!) stuff. Guest guest
Hi - You won't miss those things a bit. If you do, and after you have had your protein, have whatever it is that you crave. Just don't drink anything with sugar (not even fruit juices) because they are so calorie laden and are filled with simple carbs. And . . . NO sugary sodas. Did I mention - no sugary sodas? Pasta is a real problem at first for postops and not just because of the carbs. It seems that the pasta doesn't swell up completely until it's in your stomach. When it swells there, and you are a recent post-op, it raises havoc with your new tiny tummy. What's wrong with the chicken? I ate chicken at about a week and a half out. Just make sure it's cooked so that none of it is the least bit dry (or crisp). Chew it up like crazy, too. Otherwise, no problem. I did do the last suppers. In fact, I had a low albumin level and Dr. Keshishian actually had someone called to tell me NOT to diet. Guest guest
, It will be just temporary giving up some of the foods until your new tummy can handle them again. It wont be long though.......I had half a Mcs cheeseburger with the bun when I was 10 days out and eating refried beans with cheese and a small soft taco! Judie =)

Guest guest
Hi and Nick: I was served regular 7-up non diet in the hospital and I drink a Coke whenever I want one. I am not big on fruit juice but I would drink it if I wanted. The point being that most sweet things are way to sweet and I found better things to drink the first 19 months that I enjoyed better but I now drink my ice tea again and I drink it sweet with regula sugar and it has never bothered my weight loss but I did not care for the taste of tea again until I was almost 2 years post-op. As a not of interest my favorite sweet is Bread and Butter pickles! Go figure. I eat a cup full at least once a day I enjoy them. Guest guest
Why give up Shushi? Well, at least after the first week or so. Actually Sushimi (sp?) is better. You would be surprised how much protein you get in a couple pieces of fish. Just do eat all the rice. Rita Black <<The biggest item I will miss( for a while) is Sushi.
