Hi Carol,

I'm pretty sure normal... Darbi has always done this. Doesn't seem

to bother her at all. Nor does kneeling in the bar which would make

my knees ache something terrible! Babes are way more flexible than

we are that's for sure. The long term data doesn't suggest that

there are any knee or hip issues in response to FAB wear so I try not

to worry. She isn't knock kneed when she walks so I am pretty sure

it's not a big deal. I see this the most when I take her to potty

while wearing the FAB, I pull her pants down and hook my arm under

her knees to set her on the seat. They're always very close together

at this point, touching knees actually and they seem to naturally go

there with ease but always back out again when her legs are straightened.

We're at the " W " sitting stage now, when her brace is off and she

sits on her knees and shins her feet splay out to the sides as if

she's still wearing her FAB. It's comfortable to her but apparently

not supposed to be done. I have read here that I'm suppposed to

tell her not to sit like that. Although impossible for me to convey

to her that she shouldn't do it, it's natural and I'm positive due to

her sitting like that while in the FAB. Her legs and feet just

settle there when she kneels and then sits back on her rump. oh well...

Kori and Carol,

My daughter is only two months old now but I'm concerned with the

knees and the braces as well. From some pictures I've seen of

children who have had their clubfeet corrected, I did notice that

many of them looked knock-kneed as well. Not sure if it is due to

the braces or to the clubfeet condition itself. ??

Regarding the sitting positions, my younger sister sat in the " W "

position as a little girl because it was the most comfortable for

her. Today she isn't knock-kneed at all....as a matter of fact, she

is a bit bow-legged. Being able to sit in the position really

demonstrates a flexibility in the hips if anything. But, I don't

think it will actually " cause " knock knees.

Thanks,
