Guest guest
my period showed up the day after my surgery. My boyfriend not only wiped my ass for the first week after surgery but he also helped me with putting the pad in place and helping me clean myself there. He wasnt real thrilled with it but knew I couldnt do it myself at the time. I do love the man. My period started the day before surgery. When I went into the operating room, I had a pad in place. When I came out, I assummed the pad was still there. The next day I asked about having the pad changed and they just brought me some new ones. There was no way I could reach down there to put a pad in place after having an open surgery. To top things off, I had a male nurse and a male aide that day. When they got me up to walk me around, I realized the pad wasn't where I had left it and I left a large pool of blood on the floor. Not 2 minutes later my aide walked in the room and stepped in the mess. Not only did he have to clean up the floor, but the bedding was a mess and so was I. The poor man didn't speak much English and didn't understand when I told him I needed something to keep the pad in place such as underwear. Since I couldn't bend to clean myself, he had to do it. I was so > embarrassed. I don't feel like I w > as able to keep myself very clean in that area until I got home and was able to use my hand-held shower attachment. All I have to say is that I would have felt much better if I had only needed help wiping my butt. > > Kathy M. >

While I know that not *every* problem will be solved by having the surgery, I know that *some* things in my life will get better. I guess I am just having to tell myself that I am worth having this done, even tho I wish I could have had it 20 yrs ago and I hope I will be as " good " at doing what I need to do for maximum weight loss as you guys are. >> Carole: You DEFINATELY ARE WORTH IT! :) I'm sure you will experience fabulous weight loss like other post-ops in the list, too! We all have our different rates but, in the end, we do get to pretty much the same place at 12-18 months post-op! :) And, we all have our insecurities and doubts. I was so confident before the surgery but I also had some moments of doubt -- More like I wished I didn't have to rearrange my intestines in order to have permanant weight loss. I had a bmi of 45, so others had told me 'just try again'. I wasn't a diet person --- I mainly ate nutritiously and exercised. So, I knew that didn't work for me. Diets definately didn't work long term whenever I did them. I saw the genetic reality in my family.... I just wished I
Guest guest
Kathy, After reading your post, all I can say is'Thank G-d for hysterectomies! " I've read that for some strange reason a lot of women get socked with their period just before or after surgery. I'm glad that that's all behind me (LOL)!.
