Guest guest
I and my daughter found this whole episode very upsetting. But I told my daughter that even without my knowing anything about this childs parents, I know they will do nothing and that is why it happened. They know that they can get by with it, so they do it. The parents probably think it's out of their hands, or that it is the only way to handle the situation (after all, these people have gone to college to learn how to deal with kids). My daughter said she will try to let the parents know her feelings about it, and see how they feel about it. There is so much ignorance! No one here, in the school system anyway, knows anything about ASD or anything about conditions that cause behavior problems except ADD. The terrible things that happen to these kids is shocking. There are no programs for them. And this is my reason also, for homeschooling. I worked in this system, and now my aunt and daughter do, so I know how horrible it is. And though it might not be right of me to take care of my own instead of putting them in the system and then making the system change (as has been suggested), the years it would take to change this system would ruin my kids. I hope those who have good school systems truly appreciate them, I can't even imagine a system like theirs. Dana, I have forwarded your post to my daughter, and have talked to her about what you've said. She has expressed her feelings to several teachers, one of whom was involved in this. This child is seen as a spoiled child who needs to learn who is boss. Poor little things. All of them. Lolita >Okay so the mother had to retrieve her daughter from juvie.
