Guest guest
Hi , I don't write too often but I agree with everyone. My son Jordan got his g tube when he was 14 months old. He had an NG tube first for about 8 months. My husband and I agonized over this decision to get a G tube. He was totally against it and Dr. H could sense his apprehension at Jordan's first visit with her. And Dr. H told my husband like it is - she said I see you are in denial and this is not something that's going to go away in a few months. I must tell you getting the G tube was the best thing that ever happened to us. Granted the surgery did scare me and he was hospitalized for 9 days but in the end it was all worth it. My son is 4 years old now and doing fine in terms of his gastric situation. Now we are dealing with hearing and behavior issues. Take time to think about your decision and do your research. We are all here for you. mom to Jordan RSS G tube, GH, Tums, Vit D, 38 lbs and 41 inches; 4months
Guest guest
When I checked out the growth charts at http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/nhanes/growthcharts/charts.htm Maddison is about 3 squares below the 3rd percentile on the weight-for-stature chart. And that IS pretty low. It's great that Maddison is eating better right now, BUT we are heading into the " colder, sicker " seasons, so it probably won't stay that way. and not getting enough calories, only makes it harder to fight the germs that come her way. The decision to have a tube placed is a really hard one to make. I know tons of people that believe if we just tried harder, or were more forceful with , he wouldn't " need " his tube. They are SO wrong!! BUT ask anyone that has agonized over this decision, then carried through, and I think ALL of them would say they weren't sorry, once it was over and done. Wish I could soothe the stress away, but only time will help. The horrors that you imagine with the placement of the g-tube are so much worse than the reality of it. Kids heal remarkably fast! Just know that we're all here to support whatever decision you make. HUGS!!
