Canola oil is corn oil, though. Is it Hains > > that is corn free? I don't know about Hains (except that their Safflower Soft margarine is gfcf; I called the company) but I do know that corn oil comes from corn whereas canola comes from rapeseed, a cousin to mustard and a fairly long-chain fat (and one that causes problems for my seizure-prone son.) Guest guest
-Thanks Lorilyn, I didn't know that. What problems does it cause your seizure prone son? janelle
Guest guest
Before chelation and before Depakote, eating even a little canola oil (and fish or fish oil, and a few other things) was enough to trigger a seizure or heavy-duty tics. The association isn't as clear now, with chelation and other changes, but he still gets pretty stimmy if he eats lots of foods fried in canola. He has problems with hummus, too--even very recently-- which contains sesame and usually a canola/olive oil blend (in the brands we buy.) Hard to know for sure anymore, but it was pretty clear a year or two ago. Lorilyn
