Hey ,

I hear your frustration, and I SO sympathize!! We were just talking about

this situation with last night. It would be SO nice to have him sit

at the dinner table with us, and to be able to put his plate in front of

him, and have him eat, on his own, without complaint. And hopefully, that

will come in a few years. We don't have to deal with it every night (we only

have him 3-4 evenings a week), so it's easier for us, but it still can be

frustrating.

is mostly into carbs. Chips (only plain now), crackers (mostly

saltines), French fries, and cereal. He has recently started eating pizza,

and chicken nuggets regularly, so we've frozen " portions " of these things

for when we're having something we know he won't even try.

We have also tried adding Debby's suggestion of giving Bran a choice into

our dinner routine. He is offered 2-3 different types of dinner food on his

plate, and we insist that he try one bite of one item. This way he's getting

a new texture, a new taste, but he gets to choose what it is. It hasn't

really seemed to work yet, but we're giving it some time. And once he takes

his " one bite " he gets something that he " likes " as a reward.

I also think part of the problem has to do with age. has just

started throwing temper tantrums, telling us no to everything, and insisting

on " his " way with just about every routine we have. He's really beginning to

assert his independence, so staying calm but firm seems to be the key.

I would definitely let Dr H know about the night sweats. Does Jack take

anything in the form of extra calories right before bed or during the

night?? You might want to consider this, because what you are describing can

be signs of hypo-g.

Hope this helps!
