Guest guest
Hmmmm - I'll have to look into this. I know Ian's was very delayed - but, I don't remember any " ossified " comments. At 9 mos his hand was 3 months. At 22 mos - his phalangeal epiphyses (fingers) appeared between 18 and 24 months. But, the other centers are less mature with the carpals, metacarpals and distal forearm bones appeared between 9 and 12 months. His chronological age is 22 months - the standard deviation at that age is 3 months. His skeletal maturation is disharmonic, although overall delayed. - H > WE saw Emerence's endo last week and she called me today after she > read a bone age xtray we took in May. > > At age 15 months last year her hand read at 9-12 months > At age 27 months her hand read at 2y2m - 2y3m > > So she is caught up (help her - s hould she have caught up in a > year?!) Guest guest
, Alyssa's bone age did the same kind of jump. The main thing is to keep her bone age closely monitored. Often, an advancing bone age can be correlated to early adrenarche. We learned at the convention this year how that truly affects our children's growth. We had Alyssa's DHEA levels checked when her bone age started advancing past her chronological age 6 months ago. Dr. H ordered them. They did reveal high levels, much higher than they should be and therefore indicative of early adrenarche. We are supposed to get another bone age this month, and if it is still advancing Dr. H wants to start her on an aromatase inhibitor, like Arimidex. This should prohibit her bone age from advancing further and thereby allow more time for growth.
