Guest guest
See, this is something that happened to me and that I don't understand. Why do the orthos want us to stop at 2 or 3? If the helmet still fits, why not shoot for zero?Sent from my iPhoneOn Mar 20, 2010, at 2:18 PM, "star122802" <star122802@...> wrote: Nevaeh is done with her helmet. Well at least that what the doctors are telling us. But I find myself wanting to put the helmet back on. Her 2nd scan was 2.8mm and now a wk later its 3.8mm they are all telling me its a good number. I don't know much about the measurements can somebody help me understand? I will post pics of her head soon. Thanks
Guest guest
I also agree with you, but my son's neurosurgon told us that as the child gets older, his skull is hardening and is not as soft and pliable as when he was an infant. Dr. Bingamann said a general rule of thumb if the fontanel (soft spot) isn't noticeable, then it's pointless for him to continue useage. Sadly, my son Brayden is not at a zero, but his head did improve signficantly from when we started the process. > > Nevaeh is done with her helmet. Well at least that what the doctors are telling us. Guest guest
Your doctor is wrong. My daughter's soft spot was closed before we even started helmet treatment and I would never say that her improvement was pointless. His statement shows a lack of understanding that it is the sutures closing that cause the problem. Yes, change may be slower with soft spot closer, but it was certainly worth it for my daughter. He probably would have denied my daughter a prescription and that would be so unfair. Re: No more helmet!
