Guest guest
Hi Michele, I tried calling the Guest House to see if I could locate you. No luck. I did not know your last name. ANd I did not think that it might have been you they suggested because I did not think about your husband being there during your surgery...duh. I said...no, she would have checked in yesterday. Anyway, I know what you mean about the husband becoming very familiar with the crotch area. Thank God for my husband. I was not able to take care of myself until I got home. I think some of was because those commodes there were right against the wall. No room for an obese person to manuever. Truthfully I don't think you will be able to help lift your mom that soon. I am still needing to be careful with lifting. from Dr Herron's office told me 3 months. But I do what I think I can as of now. I was not able to really stand upright for a week and a half after surgery. I used a pillow or bear against my belly every time I moved. I had lots of lower belly pain, like he was in there messing with my inards.. LOL Plus I also ended up with an open incision along with my lap ones. Dr Quinn covered for Dr Herron the weekend I was in the hospital and she had me go through THREE leak tests. What misery that was. But at least we know I don't leak. I am not sure what I would think about not having the test. BTW, I am not in the city to see the doctor. I escorted a bus tour here this weekend. My next check-up with Dr Herron is not until Jan 3. I am from PA. I think I was a couple weeks post-op when I started trying to sleep on my side. I managed my left side first, possibly because of my infected incisions in the middle and right side. It was only a few minutes at first and each time I tried it got better. Sometimes I would tuck a small pillow under to help. I still can not do my stomach, but again that might be because of the previously mentioned incisions. But I can sleep good on my sides now. I cant remember when I was able to cough or sneeze without pain. It just eventually got easier. It doesnt hurt now, but I grab my stomach as a reflex. I had some rough times the first 8 weeks. I still get some nausea but mostly I have more good days than bad. I hope you do really well in your recovery. Welcome to the other side, and I hope we can connect later. We are going out to eat about 7:30, but should be back by 9PM. We are going to McHales and I am having scallops wrapped in bacon, which were wonderful before surgery, so hoping they still are. <G> Hope to talk later, Sheri
