Guest guest
My baby got heat rash/yeast infection on 3rd day with band that turned into a staph infection on back of head -- an abcess the size of a golf ball. fortunately we caught infection in time and got antiB's into her BUT staph infection (partic on head) could be very dangerous. Should we continue with band? Husband says " no way risk not worth it " I don't want her to be stuck with wide head (she has brach -- 92%) Our Peds are very anti-helmet and said to " throw it away. " What do you think? PS> it is a DOC band. O
Guest guest
Talk to your ortho... I'm sure they would have words of wisdom on how to proceed with a staph infection. I know that you can't leave it off for too long... but I con't remember how long that is (2 weeks?) I'm sure your ortho can help you in this situation... and then you decide if it would be worth continuing. Hope your baby feels better soon!!! Guest guest
do you have an idea of what caused the infection? It isn't very common, and perhaps if you were more careful there won't be any risk of it happening again. My daughter never had problems, but of course all babies are different. If your baby is sweater you would need to take that into account and dress her lighter and wipe her down more. Also do skin checks more. If her head is particularly sensitive that might be a reason to stop. However I know that now that my daughter is 4 yrs old I still notice her imperfect head. To be honest I would feel quite guilty about it if I hadn't banded her. She went from about 96% to 85%. -christine sydney, 4 yrs, starband grad > > My baby got heat rash/yeast infection on 3rd day with band that turned into a staph infection on back of head -- an abcess the size of a golf ball. > > fortunately we caught infection in time and got antiB's into her BUT staph infection (partic on head) could be very dangerous. > > Should we continue with band?
