Dr. M in Iowa city has teamed up with Dr. Dobbs to do the genetic study. He

asked us to give blood, so all 5 of us did before coming home.

He wants EVERY cf family to give blood for the study. I am hoping lots of you

here will feel the same sense of moral obligation we felt to help the future

generations by giving a small annonomous sample to the study.

For and Everett they put numbing cream on their arms first. They were

scared, and yes they did scream bloody murder, but it's only a pin prick and

over quickly. We insisted they do it anyway. With the promise for ice cream for

lunch afterwards....and we got back and I dished up ice cream and they were good

as new. Shoot, they were good as new 5 minutes after they drew blood! lol but

ice cream can't hurt, right? :)

Even the baby we volunteered and they took blood from him too.

PLEASE don't let your fear or your child's fear stop you from doing this. Our

grandchildren may thank us some day. It's a very small thing to do. I met 2

other mothers there who were refusing, unfortunately. We didn't push but we did

try to gently change their minds on the idea.

Anyway, this is my pitch. I hope anyone going to Iowa or St. Louis will

volunteer their small samples to the genetic studies in the name of science and

a future of less clubbed feet and better treatment options!

p.s. Why did the blond nurse carry a red ink pen?

So she could draw blood! Hee heee hee
