Guest guest
Gillian, Two things: One, I, too, had this condition when I was a baby and had the casting for 6 months. I'm now almost 49 and have no problem at all. In fact, I did not even know I had that condition until I was in my 30's when my mom casually mentioned it. Of course, that explained why I was never able to do splits and other stretches that my friends did in dance and gym classes. Two, I remember that Max had some difficulty with his hips as a baby/toddler. It was not what you are describing, but his physical therapist used to comment on his weak muscle tone and how it affected his hips. He used to do a lot of work on Max's hip areas - and his lower back. It is only now, at almost 17, that Max has any sort of muscle tone and strength. And it is not age-appropriate, but more bone age appropriate. In other words, his bone age is 14 and his muscles are developed like that of a 14 year old. I don't think they necessarily go hand in hand, but it does show that he is immature in that way. Let us know what the osteo says. I'm interested in this just as a special ed teacher, let alone a mom of a kid with RSS. Jodi Z
