I've used carob before the diet for various things. In speaking to my local

HFS they could tell me that it is a bean & by itself " should be " gfcf but to

read any ingredients on the package in case they've added something. I'd go a

step further & call the company who makes the product to make sure.

One thing I can definitely tell you is it is different from chocolate; it has

a more bitter flavor & is probably more sweet when other things are added

which you may need to be careful of. I've baked with carob chips in the past

& if it was a sweet cookie, muffin, etc it tasted good. But I've bought carob

bars (instead of chocolate bars) & being a chocolate lover I didn't like it

at all.
