Guest guest
Just thought I would share my failures/successes: From " Dinners in the Freezer " by Jill Bond Original recipe for Pie Crust/Pastry: 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 2/3 cup shortening 1/3 cup cold water (approx) Yields enough pastry for 1 double crust. 1. Mix flour and salt. 2. Cut in shortening until mix has consistency of small peal. (Use forks or a pastry knife.) 3. Add cold water a little at a time until mix is barely dampened. You probably won't need the full amount mentioned above. 4. Roll out a ball onto a floured sheet, board or cloth. I tried this with plain white rice flour - total disaster, too crumbly to work with, yucky flavor. I tried with gf flour mix. I put the ball directly in the pie pan, and rolled it out. Added sweet potato pie filling and baked it. It turned out good! Hubby and I couldn't even taste gf funk flavor. If anybody else has a good regular pie crust recipe I'd love to try it.
