After surgery, my second week out I was unable to keep down food because my Acid Reflux was so incredible back. My surgeon had me double my RXD of Pepsid. That did absolutely no good. So within 12 hours he put me on Prilosec & I have not had a problem since. >> Gail: I had the total opposite thing occur -- I was diagnosed with mild reflux during the preop endoscopy. I had experienced chest pressure/pain but didn't know that was the cause. They gave me pepcid in the hospital (and before the surgery), but I didn't take any afterwards when I came home. I didn't experience any problems with the acid reflux and mine was very mild, too. However, I didn't have coffee until about 3 weeks post-op. I think I had pizza around that time, too. So, perhaps waiting until at least three weeks post-op is the trick to keeping the reflux at bay? I'm not sure -- I thought I didn't experience it post-op because my case was so mild. all the best,
