Guest guest
, I'm excited for you too!! As far as the circulation thing, not all of them experience this. It's would probably be a pretty low percentage actually but yeah, it can happen. It doesn't seem to be detrimental in any way but makes us mamas uncomfortable seeing it happen. I for one, just didn't sling Darbi (although I slung the others) and we stopped seeing it. Eventually, I was able to sling her without it happening, by that time she and I both weren't as used to it though and in the end I used the sling way less with her than her brothers. Just be aware that it may happen, and if it does you can change things accordingly if you wish. If it doesn't bother you, it probably doesn't bother them either. The docs always told me it wasn't a big deal. Kori At 09:01 PM 4/7/2006, you wrote: >Hi, > >Regarding holding babies in braces, are there certain positions we >should avoid? Guest guest
Congrats on the next step!!! It's exciting to make the switch, but it can be stressful for a couple of days while baby adjusts to the bar. Any position that baby seems comfortable in is fine. Do watch for the legs turning red/purple and getting cool - that means the circulation is cut off, but I don't think I've ever heard of that happening. My dd would get red/purple legs, but they were always warm so the ortho wasn't concerned, just looked wacky. The baby bjorn should be fine. The only think that will be different is baby will have a bit extra weight on their feet, but they should be used to that after casts Also, showing them how they can still move their legs and kick, but have to move them together, seems to be key in helping them to adjust. Good luck! Marcia Graduating to FAB - Questions.... Hi, Regarding holding babies in braces, are there certain positions we should avoid? I thought I had read some postings saying that parents would avoid holding baby right under the bottom as it would cut off circulation. Did I read the same regarding carrying baby in a baby bjorn or other such carriers? Or, is my recall incorrect? We graduate to the FAB next week. I'm excited but nervous...... Guest guest
Hi , I have not had any issues with the FAB cutting off circulation with . She is almost done (at the end of the month) with her 23/7 wear. It is awkward to hold the baby sometimes because of the brace but I hold her in whatever way is comfortable for her and for me. I do hold her under her bottom. When nursing, I supported the leg which was sticking up at first and then discontinued that once I figured out it was not bothering her for her leg to stick up, just bothering me. She still sleeps in bed with me (wearing a Halo sleepsack) and most things are the same as with the casts. Clothes are a bit trickier since I wanted to avoid taking off the brace to change her in the event of a " poop out " . LOL I just mostly stick to clothes which snap under the bottom or dresses and such. She is wearing an adorable pair of pants today, though, because they were so cute I couldn't resist. I have used the Baby Bjorn with her wearing the FAB and have not had any issues except that it is more complicated to get her into it. Otherwise, it seemed comfortable for her. is in the shoes and is very comfortable in them. I think the brace is really more awkward for me to handle her in than it is bothersome for her. I hope the same is true for -J'nee. All the best to you, Carol and , 10-27-05, bcf, s 23/7 Graduating to FAB - Questions....
