Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, We live in Ft. Wayne (about 1 1/2 hours north of Indianapolis). We used to drive to Indy to see Dr. Randall Loder with Riley Hospital. Dr. Loder did a good job in casting her foot and performing her tenotomy and her foot is fully corrected and looks good. He did follow the ponsetti method to the " T " . Is your son in the Markell's or the PM's? Dr. Loder had not had a previous patient with the PM's....he was willing to write the script so our daughter could use the PM's ( the DBB caused a sore on her non cf) but I think he was threatened by all of the knowledge I had gained from this WONDERFUL group and that I was introducing shoes to him that he himself was not completely familiar with. Because of this we set up an appointment with Dr. Ponseti in April.... Dr. Ponseti said her foot was fully corrected and look great! Because we had such a wonderful experience in Iowa city we have choosen not to return to Indianapolis but to make the 6 hour drive to see Dr. Ponseti every 6 months! It really is worth the drive! Dan the brace man at Riley is wonderful! Very knowledgeable and personable to work with. The nurses at Riley were wonderful....very kind and compassionate! I do know there are other doctors in Indy that people have used that used to work at Riley and now work at St. 's hospital. It is my understanding that Dr. Ponseti came to Riley (while these doctors still worked there) and trained them on the Ponseti method! HTH, and Mallory (7 months, PM's 18/7)
Guest guest
OH you could just drive over to Dr. P! We do it from the Cleveland area and if you are willing to go to Chicago just go on over to Iowa instead. Chris any good Ponseti Doctors in the Indianapolis area? My son has been a patient of Dr. Herzenburg's for almost a year now; he was born with bi- lateral clubfeet. His feet look beautiful now and seemed to have corrected nicely. My last follow up with Dr. H was about 3.5 months ago and it is now time for another follow up appt. The problem is that my husband has re-located from his Georgia job to a job in Indianapolis. This also means our insurance changed from an excellent PPO to now an HMO. Does anyone have any suggestions on what options we have in being able to continue seeing Dr. H. (or at least one last time before we have to switch doctors)? Secondly, does anyone know any good Ponseti doctors in the Indianapolis or surrounding areas (Chicago is also an option). I would greatly appreciate any advice, as I am very strict with using the Ponseti Method. Thanks! -bonnie
Guest guest
My daughter is treated by Dr. Diane Von Stein in Cincinnati. She has been great for us. I seem to recall some others recently mentioned that some Doctors have gotten on board in Indianapolis but I cannot recall their names. Guest guest
Welcome to Indianapolis!! It is a great city. We live on the southwest side. We started out with Dr. Berrios, who did a fine job casting, but wanted to us AFO's and the DBB and get rid of both when started walking. Because we wanted to not have to switch again, we went with a certified doctor, and travel to Cinncinnati. It is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours away, so not bad! However, there is a least one mom on her who sees either Dr. Didelot or Dr. Kayes, I can't remember which. They are not certified, but have worked with Dr. Ponseti, and I have heard great things about them. They were at Riley, but now have their own office. I am not sure if it is affiliated with St. Children's Hospital or not, but the office is in one of their buildings. Hopefully, Kathleen will chime in because she has more experience with them than I do. So you have the option to travel or stay close. I really like Dr. Von Stein, so you can't go wrong. Again, welcome to Indianapolis! If you have any questions feel free to email me. We have like in Indy for 4 years, but I grew up an hour south of here, and taught in one of the school districts for 3 years. Guest guest
Another option would be Dr. Dobbs in St. Louis, of course, he would be 3 1/2 to 4 hours away. He is also at Shriner's if you have an insurance problem. Pam > > My son has been a patient of Dr. Herzenburg's for almost a year now; he was born with bi- > lateral clubfeet. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie- Welcome to the area. My son is a patient of Dr Didelot who is in Indianapolis-he is based out of the St hospital network. He and 2 others just left Riley hospital in October to begin their own ortho practice. All 3 are students of the ponseti method-just not officially certified. We have been quite pleased with Dr Didelot as he is conservative in his training-follows the bracing protocol. Please let me know if you want contact information! thanks, kathleen mom to david bcf fab 12/7 22 mo old and baby girl edd 9/1/06 > > My son has been a patient of Dr. Herzenburg's for almost a year now; he was born with bi- > lateral clubfeet.
