Guest guest
I'm sure this comes up many times but I've look through some of the past messages without hitting the right info. Does anyone have problems with mouth stuffing, choking while eating. is doing well on his G-tube and is eating a little by mouth. He was much better but is now choking more and stuffs all of the food in his cheek rather than swallow it. I try and make the puree less thick and it can help but should I be resting him for a while. How do you teach a child how to chew and use his tongue to take the food to the back of his mouth? I was thinking of going to a dentist for a pair of dentures - or a joke shop I guess! any experiences, suggestions welcome. is n0w 3 years and 7 months and he is beginning to notice and get frustrated that he can't do what other children do. He really does seem to want to learn to eat but we are not being too successful although I know it will take alot of time. thank you debi, mum to in Japan, RSS, 3 years 7 months, 85.7 cms, 9.8kilos, G-tube, GH, strict diet for suspected milk/soy protein allergies. Guest guest
Hi, Emerence had both issues...she would stuff her mouth and let it sit or begin to choke. She received almost 1.5 years of occupational therapy and recently graduated. However, it has been one month since she phased out of Early Intervention and she is beginning to do it again! I think she needs a frequent reminder so I constantly remind her. At the beginning I would cut her food into very small pieces and keep most away from her on a separate plate (so she couldn't stuff...). Sounds like is moving forward! CongratS!
