Hi. I have a question about my son non RSS, don't know where else to

ask, but he is on periactin for low appetite. Anyways, he got put on

it in June and has gained about 7 or so lbs since then. Now 7 yrs and

42 lbs. His gi doc is not much for experimenting but his geneticist

said to try the periactin holiday, go off for about 1 mos then back on.

(Periactin didn't work for Autumn ) that way maybe we can step up his

weight even more to see if it is affecting his stature and see if we

will get another weight jump. I took him off a few days ago and he is

now barely eating. He brings home his lunchbox full except for 1/2

sandwich which he took a couple bites from and threw out the rest. He

also complains of his belly hurting all the time...let me elaborate on

this...he was put on it for low appetite and he always has stomach pain

to which no cause has been found but suspected sensory issues have been

thought to be the culprit. Like stomach hunger...hurts so won't eat,

stomach beginning to get full...hurts so won't eat more...etc, he feels

it all as the same pain " we think " . I am wondering if the periactin

has affected that by making him hungry therefore his sensory issues

aren't so strong and he eats more.

Any insight? Should I continue this periactin holiday when he is

barely eating anymore or just get back on it?

thanks.

mom to Autumn RSS 20 mos 16 lbs 29.5 inches, Summer 3 mos 8

3/4 lbs 21 inches I think, Ocean 32 lbs 37 3/4 inches, Skye 7 44.25

inches 42 lbs anxiety, ocd, aspergers, sensory issues
