Guest guest
Hi guys, Thanks so much for all your thoughts and experiences. I haven't answered anyone as of yet, because I have been processing and researching myself. I have spoken with numerous doctors and read everything I can find. I am waiting to hear back from one other doctor and I think I will take your advice and contact a psychiatrist and get an opinion. Coby has a lot of autistic traits. He is getting to the point where his obsessions are affecting the way he plays and develops. He can NOT get thru a therapy session anymore. He is receiving speech and developmental therapy and has stopped making progress. His outbursts have caused others to react negatively to him. His grandpa that has been his best buddy his whole life can't handle to watch him anymore because of his behaviors. He can no longer handle him when he gets fixated on something or gets mad. It is getting harder for me to have patience with him when he demands the same thing over and over. I can explain to him the first time why he can not do or have it and then ignore it and it doesn't matter, he just keeps screaming the same thing OVER AND OVER. It is starting to affect the whole household. It has taken me over a year to get someone to even look into these issues. This is not a decision I am taking lightly. The one doctor that Coby has that I trust and adore has said that he uses this drug with kids Coby's age. That we can stop it at any point, so a trial run is possible. If we do not like the affects we can take him off the meds and start all over again. Coby has started all his meds before the suggested age. Periactin, growth hormone, ext… I will keep you all informed and thanks again. le, mom to: Shye 10, Brock 8, and Coby (rss) & Carlee 2 yr old twin terrors! Guest guest
le, has the same issues with fixating and outbursts if you tried to stop him. He has been on risperdal since March. It has worked wonders for him. He does not fixate the same way anymore, and if he does get " hooked " on something he is much more easily distracted. He focuses better in school and is actually initiating play with other children. is 5.
