Guest guest
Yes the helmet will still be very helpful. My daughter just started a second band in mid January at 11.5 months and already we can see very visible improvements. I did not expect to really see any overall changes until the end of the band because she is over 1 year old now and has slower growth. Some babies take longer to adjust to the helmet than others. My daughter fussed about this second helmet and sweated in it for about 4 weeks before the fussiness and sweating were almost gone. When you said " ...her hair is wet when we put helmet on... " : Did you mean when the helmet comes off? This just takes time for the babies to adjust to the warmth held against their heads by the foam and all the babies go through this. My daughter sweated for about 4 weeks. The first week I quick dried her head with a towel every hour (it was still damp to touch). The second week, I dried every 2 hours...etc until after the fourth week I just stopped drying her hair/skin unless I see sweat dripping out. Or did you mean her hair is still wet when it is time for the helmet to go back on? In this case, I would just do everything you can to dry the hair and skin. I would guess that slightly damp to the touch is ok provided there are no heat rashes appearing but dripping wet/sweat should be towel dried to a damp feel and then the helmet put back on. I have used a hairdryer (no heat setting) to finish drying my daughter's hair BUT she loves having the 'wind' in her face. Other babies might not be so enthusiastic. > > my girl is 9.5months now. There is some flatter on the left side and back side. The difference is 12 now. We receive the helmet yesterday. But she cried loadly and her hair is wet when we put helmet on.That made me broken heart. Will the helmet be helpful for her in this age? Is this a good decision or not? >
Guest guest
I think you mean 12mm of asymmetry - if that is the case I would recommend her wearing the helmet. Distract her when you put it on, make a fuss about her, give her a new toy etc, so she thinks it is a good thing. Also make sure the fit is good. If she's getting red spots she needs an adjustment. As for wet - I think you mean she is sweating. This is very normal at first. Take off the helmet and wipe her head and the helmet with a dry towel, then put it back on. She will sweat less once she's used to wearing it. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > my girl is 9.5months now. There is some flatter on the left side and back side. The difference is 12 now. Guest guest
THANKS for shairing. Today is the 3rd day, she is sweating a lot still. I wipe her every hour. i tried to let her sleep in the helmet, she waked up immediately.i will try it tommorrow.I hope she can adjust much betteR. This afternoon she weared helmet 3 hours. I put it off,and wash her hairs. I found her head is very hot until now.It has been 2 hours. But her body temperature is normal. I am worried if this is because of the helmet.Does anybody know that?thanks.
