Guest guest
I also had 'less than 100 lbs to lose' (and diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea & high cholesterol) and had to talk hard and fast to get the DS. Both the nutritionist and surgeon sail 'all ' I needed was the Lap Band or the RnY at most. I held on for the DS..and am so glad I did. I hope Gagner will abide by your request and the decision you both made. My BMI was 'just'35 but geez-at 58 years old I knew this was my one time shot for WLS and I had read about RnY revisions and the dumping syndrome (which sounds a lot like hypoglycemia to diabetic me) that I knew I didn't want to go there. Now, at 4 and a half months out, I am down 60+ lbs, from a sz 24 to a sz 16 and much healthier. I eat whatever I want and have intentionally tried to slow down my quick loss by eating sweets this holiday season...I have just 30 or so lbs left to MY goal and am less than 10 lbs from the docs goal (high as it was). The Ds is the best medical decision I have ever made and considering that you have done the footwork and gotten information, you should get the surgery you want!
