Guest guest
Dear Judy, I am glad the TKR is over and you are home now. The Corgard taken twice daily is keeping my BP nice and low 130/80. The Prilosec and Tagamet twice a day are great for the tummy too. This Friday I got some bad news from my neurologist- the weird numbness and tingling I have in my upper lip, as well as other strange new muscle weaknesses and nerve pain is a relapse of my CNS Lyme Disease! It has only been since the first week of March that I came off of IV antibiotics too! Got to get a PICC line in again and the whole nine yards -- dammit! AND I keep getting narcolepsy episodes (with a few minutes warning) when I try to drive on the highway too. Please let me know how you are doing. Guest guest
I posted a couple of days ago about some new medication my doctor put me on and asked if anyone had any info about it. The drug is called Rheumox (azapropazone) the only info my doctor has told me is to keep out of direct sunlight. I realised that maybe the members in America may not recognise this drug - has anyone in England or anywhere else heard of this drug before. I'm desparate to try something new because the pain is really getting unbearable - I'm just worried about what other side affects it may give me. Any offers greatly appreciated Davena
Guest guest
Davena, I've had no personal experience with this drug but a search revealed this: http://www.edoc.co.za/medilink/products/1945.html " Main Use: For use in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteo-arthritis, gout. Active Ingredients: Azapropazone (NSAID) MAY CAUSE GASTRIC IRRITATION NSAIDs (GENERAL) (anti-inflamatory) Available Dosage forms: Rheumox 300mg caps Notes: Please consult the pages with the Information for the Actives for more notes. The usual dose is 1200mg /day, given as 600mg twice daily, this may be reduced to 900mg for maintenance therapy or increased to 1800mg if required. Azapropazone is principally excreted unchanged by the kidney. In patients over 65 years of age, whose renal function may be reduced, it is therefore suggested that the starting dose be 300mg in the morning and 600mg to be taken last thing at night. In patients older than this, a suitable starting regimen is 600mg at night or 300mg twice daily. The dosage can be subsequently adjusted since some elderly patients have excellent renal function. In acute gout, 2.4g may be given in divided doses during the first 24 hours, followed by 1.8g daily until the attack is resolving, the reduced to 1.2g daily until symptoms have disappeared. Guest guest
Davena, I found this on the net about your medication (it looks like an general kind of an anti-inflammatory): bruce " RHEUMOX CAPSULES COMPOSITION: Each capsule contains 300 mg Azapropazone. PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION: A 3.1 Antirheumatics (anti-flammatory agents). PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Azapropazone is a pyrazole derivative which has analgesic, anti-flammatory and antipyretic actions. INDICATIONS: It is indicated for use in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteo-arthritis and gout. CONTRA-INDICATIONS: It is contra-indicated for use in patients with a history of active ulcers of the gastro-intestinal tract. It should not be given during the first three months of pregnancy. The administration of Rheumox is contra-indicated in patients with porphyria. WARNINGS: Azapropazone may enhance the activity of coumarin anticoagulants. DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE: The usual dose is 1200 mg per day, given as 600 mg twice daily. This may be reduced to 900 mg for maintenance therapy or increased to 1600 mg if required. Azapropazone is principally excreted unchanged by the kidney. In patients over 65 years of age, whose renal function may be reduced, it is therefore suggested that the starting dose be 300 mg in the morning and 600 mg at night. In patients much older than this, a suitable starting regimen is 600 mg at night or 300 mg twice daily. This dosage can be subsequently adjusted since some elderly patients have excellent renal function. In acute gout, 2,4 g may be given in divided doses during the first 24 hours, followed by 1,8 g daily until the attack is resolving, then reduced to 1,2 g daily until symptoms have disappeared. SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Gastro-intestinal disturbances, allergic skin rashes and photosensitivity, headache, vertigo, oedema and kidney may occur. Gastro-intestinal bleeding and angioedema have been reported. Azapropazone should be given with caution to patients with acute gastritis or peptic ulceration, impaired renal function, or with a history of blood disorders. Very rarely, fibrosing alveolitis and Coomb's positive hamemolytic anaemia have been reported in association with Rheumox therapy. Should either occur, therapy should be discontinued. Azapropazone may increase the hypoglycaemic effect of sulphonylureas, as well as blood-phenytoin concentrations. Fatal toxicity has occurred when given concurrently with methotrexate. KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT: See " Side-effects and Special Precautions " . In acute overdosage the stomach should be emptied by inducing emesis or by aspiration and lavage. Patients with mild intoxication should be encouraged to drink plenty of fluids. In patients with more severe intoxication, forced alkaline diuresis may be required and should be continued till the plasma concentration is less than 350 µg per mL in adults, then I.V. fluids can be stopped and the patients encouraged to take fluids by mouth. Plasma electrolytes, especially potassium and the acid-base balance should be monitored regularly. Acidaemia must be corrected by infusion of sodium bicarbonate before starting forced diuresis. In the presence of cardiac or renal impairment or in severe intoxication, haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis may be necessary. Acute allergic reactions may be treated, if necessary, by administration of adrenalin, corticosteroids and an antihistamine. IDENTIFICATION: Opaque shiny capsules. Dark orange cap and pale orange body printed with " RHEUMOX " and " CE " . PRESENTATION: Capsules of 300 mg in bottles of 30's, 100's and 500's. STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Store below 25°C and protect from light. Keep container tightly closed. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN " Hope this helped. > I posted a couple of days ago about some new medication my doctor >put me on and asked if anyone had any info about it. Guest guest
Bernadette, Have you tried a massage? A massage of the abdominal section in the same direction as the intestine flow can be very helpful to reduce the cramping and stimulate the elimination process. If you have the Arise and Shine product Chomper you many want to try a small amount to stimulate the elimination process. Another thing would be drink organic apple juice, and or herbal tea with licorice root. Both Apple juice and Licorice have a laxative effect. Why is you water intake limited? Some teas, herbal or otherwise, can dehydrate the digestive tract and take moisture from the colon making elimination more difficult. I am not a medical professional and can not give medical advice but I can share my cleansing experience. I hope everything works out ok! Help Please I have been on a five day liquid fast, with 1 small glass of grape juice (freshly made) being my only juice. I did a colonic today and got nothing out. I have not had any BM's in five days and have taken 1 glass of Herbalfiber Blend for the last two days. When doing my colonic I had cramping and symptoms of needing to do a major passing but nothing came out. I can not seem to stomach all the herbs for Arise & Shine and much more then one fiber shake a day while fasting. I do not wish to break my fast, I am out of Homozon and it should be in soon. I am taking a green drink, herbs tea's, and the small glass of grape juice. My water intake is limited. Any suggestions on how to pass more stuff. Guest guest
Bernadette, I have had similar problems. Have you inserted olive oil into the rectum? Implanting at least a cup of olive oil in the rectum before bedtime and holding it over night. This is helpful many times to loosen things up so they will move when doing a colonic. Also, I have found it helpful to make sure I am drinking at least a gallon of water when fasting. Sometimes I will also put a castor oil pack on my abdomen to help with this. For some reason the castor oil will help my bowels move, even without swallowing it. ~Karma<(©¿©)> http://loaves-n-fishes.com Help Please I have been on a five day liquid fast, with 1 small glass of grape juice (freshly made) being my only juice. Guest guest
Bernadette: How much water are you drinking? Be careful that you don't become dehydrated. Guest guest
Bernadette, Have you tried putting epsom salts or lemon juice in your colonic or enema? I used both while cleansing, and I have had the same problem in the past that you are having now. You might break the fast with a raw vegie diet. That has really helped me eliminate better too. One thing that has helped me the most though is taking some kind of adrenal support, one of which is licorice root. And you do need to drink lots and lots of water in order for the cleanse to be successful. Wishing you the best, suz abrs@... wrote: > Thank you for the input . I will get apples tomorrow. Guest guest
I drank Olive Oil about three hours before the colonic. Is that the same thing? Also how do I do the castor oil pack, do I soak an old towel with castor oil and set it on my ab's? Can I use Olive Oil instead of Castor Oil. Thank you Karma for your input. Guest guest
i agree that massage during the colonic is the key to having a successful session. do ;you do your colonics yourself or go to t therapist? i have a colonic once a month and my therapist does a complete massage with each fillling and always gets everything out, she is wonderful. she has me use enemas in between sessions if i need them and they seem to be enough to keep me going until my next colonic. fred

Guest guest
next colonic you do- try some warm water or very warm water. this will help you get past the gas and allow you to get at what lies behind it. hopefuly this will work. be patient when doing your colonic. what type of colonic apparatus are you using? i have said before here that i don't think the colema boards are very effective. if you drink lots of spinach and apple juice it is a a very strong activator for the colon. Guest guest
I should think that would be plenty. The pamphlet that came with my colema recommend 1/4 cup per 5 gallons, which I thought wasn't enough. abrs@... wrote: > > Have you tried putting epsom salts or lemon juice in your colonic or> > enema? . Guest guest
I don't think that Castor Oil and Olive Oil have the same healing properties. One oil is NOT the same as that other. They each have their own qualities. Yes, you soak a towel with Castor oil and put it on your abdomen. Then apply heat to the towel for an hour or two. The heat can be hot water battle or heat pad. If using heat pad, then be sure to protect it by putting plastic over the oil soaked flannel cloth first. If you are able to drink oil, then I would drink a couple of great big swallows of the Castor Oil. My bet is that will get things moving, usually pretty quickly too! ~Karma<(©¿©)> http://loaves-n-fishes.com Help Please I have been on a five day liquid fast, with 1 small glass of grape juice (freshly made) being my only juice. Guest guest
Bernadette; If you drank 3 to 4 ounces of olive oil before a colonic you should have had a good colonic, and moved out stones too. Some times the stones will show in the view tube floating across the top, and if you a lot of other harder stuff it would likely look like gravel rolling across the bottom of the tube. I've had stones show up in my first movements the next day after having a colonic in the evening. The use of a castor oil pack is really good for loosing the harder matter of the intestines, it is also good for the liver as it is also an essential fatty acid. It sounds to me like you're on a vendetta with for any foreign matter in your body. One of the best cleanses that can be done is to have a healthy diet void of all saturated fats, and hydrogenated fat i.e. fried foods. Eating a variety of foods such as raw vegetables and fruits, which have soluble and insoluble fiber, helps the intestines, and the liver, to keep them cleaned. I have a friend in her 60's who was told after an examination that her colon looked as pink and free of any problems as a healthy 30 year old. Her secret is not a secret at all! She simply makes her own bread and it contains very little processed white flower but lots of other grains, and oils like flaxseed oil. It's a heavy bread much like the roman soldiers might have made. There is more, but I think that if one keeps up a good diet with just a bit greater concern for the foods that are eaten a lot more is accomplished in the long run. Fasting is good too, and well worth the effort for the various reasons of getting the body cleared of such things as being over burdened with fecal matter and parasites. I applaud those that can do more than 3 or 4 days of a rigid fast, and do so with all the cleansing processes. it can however be very taxing if the body doesn't get electrolytes to make sure it can communicate with itself. So be sure to maintain an intake of it for the purpose of doing a body good while fasting, or doing colonics. DaleDa_@... Guest guest
As one who has also had problems occasionally in the past getting things to move, even with a colonic, it definitely works better for me if I have the water at least 101 degrees. And as one who has done professional colonics and colemas, I tend to disagree that the colema doesn't work as well. It has worked as well on most occasions for me as the colonics did. Like I said, everyone is different. I have also found that doing deep breathing (take a deep breath and then blow it out like you're blowing out a candle) while trying to get the water and " gunk " to come out sometimes helps. luckower@... wrote: > next colonic you do- try some warm water or very warm water. this will help > you get past the gas and allow you to get at what lies behind it. hopefuly > this will work. be patient when doing your colonic. what type of colonic > apparatus are you using? i have said before here that i don't think the > colema boards are very effective. if you drink lots of spinach and apple > juice it is a a very strong activator for the colon. > > > Subscription email: > mailto:bowel cleanse-subscribeegroups >

Guest guest
I want to thank everyone that responded to my help plea. I have broken my fast with grapes this morning. It was a straight fast...liquids only for 5 days and that limited. I tried to keep my colon moving but it did not seem to budge. I still plan to do a colema tomorrow to get stuff out. I know by the cramping that I have some major moving of stubborn materials that needs to be done. I am exhausted all the time in spite of my excellent nutrition. And as most of you know about my throat problems I have a mean sore throat all the time. I do desire to do another long term fast soon. It is very important to me that all my fasting be broken properly. So I break a fast as soon as hunger strikes, and before it gets the best of me. My family has the flu and I though it best to break my fast. I had about 1 cup of grapes, in 4 one hour apart servings. I will have raw veggies through the day. Liquefying before swallowing anything. Thanks again Bernadette Re: Help Please > > . what type of colonic > > apparatus are you using? i have said before here that i don't think the > > colema boards are very effective. if you drink lots of spinach and apple > > juice it is a a very strong activator for the colon. > > > > I will try the juice, but I have no knowledge that there is much of a > difference between a colonic and colema board. Guest guest
A little late perhaps, but maybe next time you may want to use Epsom Salts with water to get you going. Careful, a tsp. while not fasting makes me go within 24 hours. A tablespoon while fasting has a near immediate effect. Let us know if you try this and how you do. Guest guest
Roe, I can tell you from personal experience that a PICC line placed by a certified nurse can be quite reasonable...I think our total cost for the one placed by a nurse was around $400. THEN our insurance stepped in and said (when a second round of Rocephin was ordered,) it MUST be placed by a surgeon. The bills are still coming in for this one, and we are well over $2,000. The intelligence level of health insurance companies just astounds me. The most ironic thing of all is that the nurse got the PICC line in on the first attempt, and it was a very good line. The surgeon took many, many attempts to establish a good line. Many LLMDs have a nurse place the line in their office, so others may have a better handle on standard cost. Guest guest
Judie, the pic line can be placed without an x-ray? I agree, I would much rather have a nurse do it that a doctor any day. I have heard so many horror stories about pic lines placed by surgeons. my LLMD doesn't have a nurse. but I guess I can get one from a home care service or search the internet. thanks for the advice. when will they take chronic lyme seriously. roe Re: [ ] help please Roe, I can tell you from personal experience that a PICC line placed by a certified nurse can be quite reasonable...I think our total cost for the one placed by a nurse was around $400. Guest guest
Roe, They did do an x-ray, which is highly advisable...in the first case, we just had to go down the street to the hospital, orders in hand, to have an x-ray taken and the PICC placement checked. Honestly, my son has had three PICC lines placed all told...and the nurses did the very best! The first one which was placed by a PICC-certified nurse just kept inching out, no matter how careful he was. The second one was placed by another PICC-certified nurse, and it was completed in less than 15 minutes, start to finish, then x-ray was done to check placement and we were good to go. This third one, placed by a surgeon, was a very long, grueling process done in a hospital with all the very best equipment at hand. The good news is: the line is doing fine, and my son is showing dramatic improvement while on daily I.V. Rocephin, plus flagyl oral abx. The only worry I have is this: on our recent visit to the LLMD, he is already talking about stopping treatment in a few more weeks and having the PICC line removed at that time. I am not too crazy about yanking a perfectly good, viable PICC line after all he's gone through to this point. What if, a week or so after I.V. Rocephin ends, his symptoms begin returning as they did before? Any advice from anyone on this would be appreciated. Judie
