Guest guest
Hello, I am new to this group. I have a 2 month old daughter who was born with a right club foot. SHe just finished her 6 weeks of casting on thurday. She goes to UC Children's hospital in Sacramento. We were given the Dennis Brown bar for her to wear 24hrs a day. It is impossible to keep them on. We tried it with no socks, 1 sock, 2 socks, etc. We cinched it so tight that now her L foot (her non club foot) has these terrible marks on it from the friction. So we took of the brace and I called and left a message for Hanger Orthodics and hope to speak with someone there tomorrow. And I am sure I don't even need to mention the fact that we slept a total of 2 hours a night. She is absolutely miserable with them on. I've done some research and would like to switch her to the AFO brace but I was wondering if anyone knows if she is too young to have the AFO brace. Everything I've read it seems children with the AFO brace are older. It seems to me that since she has 1 club foot and her case is a 5 out of 10 on the severity scale, that the AFO brace would be fine to keep the correction that the casts did. If I can't get the AFO brace does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep them on, what to do to keep her poor feet from blistering and skin breaking. Please Help! This is so awful! Thank you!
