Guest guest
Hi all, My son has been in his Starband helmet for 3 weeks. I really dont see any difference yet and not sure if I am supposed to at this point. I realize its a short time period and he just turned 8 months so I would think growth is a little slower at this point. I was not expecting to see anything until I took him to his PT and she said , oh, 3 weeks, you should be seeing some change. Did anyone see change already? He has an appt tomorrow to check his helmet, but I am not sure when his next scan will be. thanks everyone. Christi
Guest guest
Hi Christi,My baby was also banded at 8 months. We saw change in the first week, but babies grow at different rates & times. We were lucky to have caught a growth spurt right off the bat. If you haven't seen improvement yet, he likely has a growth spurt around the corner.Good luck!-Amy From: CHRISTI <christimunns@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, January 20, 2011 1:37:57 PMSubject: When to expect to see change? Guest guest
Hi Christi, I would say many people see some change within 3 weeks. It is possible you aren't that observant, but it is also possible there hasn't been any correction yet. Do you have your own photos? I think comparing photos every 2 weeks is the best way to remind yourself of what his head was like and notice changes. Hopefully your ortho will also scan or measure him to see if there is improvement, but that doesn't always happen. Also the band should be fitting tighter than it used to if there was growth. If the head was loose to begin with and is still loose there may be a problem. It is also possible that his head hasn't grown very much. Please let us know what you find out at your appointment. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > Hi all, > My son has been in his Starband helmet for 3 weeks. Guest guest
Went to my appointment and they said every baby is different so I might not neccesarily see change yet. I go back in 10 days so if I still dont see any change, I am going to request a scan. They adjusted the front that was in his eyes and took a small amount out of the back only because i mentioned the flat part was red but its still pretty loose when he lays down. I have taken pictures over the last couple of weeks. I think I will download and try to do a comparison. Its so hard to get a good angle and keep the little guy still though. I guess I would prefer measurements or something to make sure its working correctly. Thanks again for everyones responses. Guest guest
Please update us again after your visit. I would insist they scan him next time. They can overlay the 2 scans on the computer and see where the changes are (hopefully exactly where needed). -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > > > > > Hi all, > > > My son has been in his Starband helmet for 3 weeks.
