Guest guest
Hi there! I'm in need of some help and suggestions for our son, who thinks he's a cricket. Let me explain. Our 5-month-old is wearing the DBB/FAB 23/7 and he got some chafing (not blisters) on the backs of his heels from this Markell boots. We saw the orthosist, who added extra padding to the back of the boots to get rid of the chafing. The skin on the backs of his ankles is healing nicely. HOWEVER, when he is free of the boots for an hour each day, we like to let him go barefoot to air out his feet. Here is where I need suggestions!!! The healing skin must be very itchy b/c he's rubbing his feet and legs together furiously like a cricket and rubbing that new skin right off. Every day we're back where we started... open skin. It's not coming from the boots slipping. It's my son... the cricket! We've tried band-aids while he is out of the boots, but they come off in a matter of seconds. We've tried breathable gauze pads/waterproof-latexfree tape and socks. He gets them all off, except for the socks. If anyone can think of anything else for my cricket -- oh, I mean son--, please let me know. Thanks,
Guest guest
i don't know if this would work, but maybe some liquid bandaid might help. I'm not sure how old a kid needs to be to use it, but it might be worth looking into. HTH - Michele trelsayed wrote: Hi there! Guest guest
One of the things suggested to me for my son's constant skin trouble (especially when he was in casts) was Shea Butter - but the good (pure) kind (no additives) that you get in the Health Food Store. It may give him enough relief from itching that he will stop long enough to let the skin heal properly. Poor little guy! trelsayed wrote: Hi there!
