Guest guest
Hello everyone... I just wanted to post here because I am thinking about getting my son Zackery started of the GFCF Diet upon the recommendation of his OT. Im here to get mroe information and find out all I can about how this whole things works so that I may knwo what to expect. This is just teh beginning of our voyage down this road and I am pretty clueless as to what I am doing but hope to learn more soon. A little bit about us... Im a 33 year old mom of 5 with one on the way... these kids are his, hers and ours... Zackery is my son from my first marriage... he is 6 years old and was diagnosed with Autism at around age 2. He is our only autistic child. We have been doing in home behavioral intervention up until school started and he has been fully included in school since kindergarten. He is currently is first grade and doign amazingly well. But he still ahs major issues and sever food issues. Zackey lives on starches and trying new foods for him is a nightmare but we are doing some... of course the first thing we did was milk... and he has gotten used to that... it has helped him to gain weight, he had been at 40 pounds and after 6 months of milk, is at 48 pounds... and slowly we are trying new things, but upon learning that gluten and casein could be causing some of his behavioral issues, I am very willing to look into this and see if there is anythign else I can do for him. His latest additions to his diet are mashed potatoes and corn... but in very limited amounts. he eats no other vegetables, the only fruit he eats is apple and only the outter part, no meats except hot dogs and chicken nuggets or stars. He will eat virtually any kind of cereal and cracker... also fruit snacks and rolls and most breads. He occasionally will eat a PB & J or grilled cheese. I cannot think of much else now. Any advice or words of wisdom will be much welcome. Thanks is advance Triss
