Guest guest
Hello, Just wondering if anyone else has had the pleasure of dealing with the brace and poison ivy? Just when I think life is settling down a little bit we decide to stand right by a patch of poison ivy and let our dd drop her hat into it....oh yes...that's right....and pick it up and put it back on her head!!!! Well...it's now spread to her legs and she has about a nickle size patch of it on the front of her ankle. We put her PM's on last night and when I checked it this morning the area is about 2 1/2 sizes bigger.....I think the heat makes it worse. Now my question.....what do we do? If the heat from wearing the shoes is only going to make it worse and spread it should be leave the shoes off? But leaving the shoes off could lead to relapse???? Right now she is at 14-16 hours (we usually do 16 hours) per Dr. Ponseti. Any thoughts? Thanks, and Mallory (11.21.05--urcf--PM's 16/7)
Guest guest
, I'm so sorry to hear about Mallory's bout with poison ivy. Poor thing! The only thing that I could think of is to maybe change your regiment to shorter periods of brace-time throughout the day with frequent sock-changing and application of medicine in between instead of doing the hours all at once at night. This will depend on 's temperament and your daily schedule (i.e. if she's in daycare...of course she's probably not in daycare if she's contagious either!). Good luck and I hope you don't get it! > > Hello, > > Just wondering if anyone else has had the pleasure of dealing with > the brace and poison ivy? Guest guest
Poison Ivy is spread through an oil that can remain on affected items more than a year. It's necessary that everything touched by the Ivy be washed thoroughly or it can re-contaminate. That would mean her brace at this point, as well as other things.... but there are Otc things that can really help the spread and relieve the itching for her. Hope it gets better soon! ee Visit Me On The Web For Clubfoot Information! http://www.wildliferevivaltaxidermy.com/ShawsPage.html PM's and poison ivy Hello, Just wondering if anyone else has had the pleasure of dealing with the brace and poison ivy?
