Dee: I think it is to reduce swelling in that area. I don't think it is

painful, although they do have to dialate the cervix to insert it. I think

it's used more for people who have painful periods/cystic ovary syndrome -- I

may be wrong, though. I read about it recently in one of those science

articles. If I run across it again, I'll post the link here!
