Guest guest
I had to go to get a TB test today, so I could sign up for substitute teaching. I know I am having surgery in a couple of weeks, but I wanted to get everything ready for when I am ready to go back to work. Anyway, while I was there, I saw that they are giving flu shots. Should I get one? I am wondering if I should since I am having surgery so soon. Usually, I would get the shot, but is it going to create any problems? I'm probably going to call Dr. Hess' office and ask them, but I wondered if any of you nurses would know. Also, the nurse who gave me the TB test (which amounts to a little prick and then they " read " it Monday - school systems require this), the woman who did my test saw my patch for quitting smoking and she asked about how I was doing and then what made me quit....so we got to my having surgery. I told her all about the DS. She has a sister she thinks might be interested. So, I told her to have her sister look up DS on the yahoo groups site. So, I got to tell someone else about DS. I told her how it differed from RNY. Told her about the RNY dumping and she said she thought that would cause diabetes or ulcers. I remember reading about ulcers on one RNY list. The diabetes thing is an interesting thought. Anyway - that was my day today. I got laid off from the work I have been doing for years and years, but also happened to update my teaching cert here in OH, (used to sub years ago) so now I am looking to substitute teaching again.....and possibly even full-time teaching if I can get hired for next year. It will be lots easier teaching and I know I will feel more confident after losing weight. No matter what I decide to do work-wise, getting a job should be easier with the loss of weight.
