I don't know if I want to know, but is there anyone out there

enjoying coffee post op? Thanks, Chris

Oh, yeah! I did give it up for about a month post-op, then slowly

reintroduced it. I remember asking my mom to bring some back for me when she

went out and I could only sip it and have maybe 1-2 oz initially.

I try to drink mainly decaffinated (keeping in mind that most 'decaffinated'

coffees are still not TOTALLY 100 pct decaffinated).. but I've also had

regular-strength stuff! Now, I have about a cup a day or every other

day...(I actually had two cups today! LOL) I couldn't drink too much at

first, but now I can have a big mugful in the a.m. like pre-op. I do drink

my milk with LOTS of milk (almost au lait), so there's some protein in there!

The STarbuck's Frappuchino's also have 7 gms/protein (but are admittedly

rather high in sugar, so I limit those).

I've worked out a way that I am NOT taking my calcium at the same time I'd be

drinking coffee --- Calcium is best absorbed in the p.m., so I have my first

two citrate tablets with my evening meal. Then, I take it in the late p.m. at

bedtime (on an empty stomach with my iron) and then upon waking (same - with

iron). So far, so good. All my levels have been ok....

This way, if I want some coffee I don't have to worry about my calcium not

being absorbed properly because of the caffine.... AND, when I want a real

treat: I discovered Borders' Mocchaberry (mocha laced with raspberry syrup)

and and Nobles white chocolate mocha! Oh, man... heavenly! :):)

all the best,
