OH NO NOT AGAIN, MADDIE IS BACK IN THE HOSPITAL!!!

hey all!!

chrissy's mom called me this morning to let me know that ryan's 1st

b-day party tomorrow was cancelled because maddie was back in the

hospital!!! she gave me chrissy's number there and i called her,

she aked me to post this-

yesterday they were having a family party for ryan and chrissy's

uncle for their b-day's. during the party maddie was running

around, playing, signing, dancing, and just having and overall blast

when chrissy's one sister noticed her dress was wet. chrissy

checked the port and then the pump started beeping, so chrissy went

to flush it and couldnt!! she laid her down and tried again, this

time it worked. a few min. later chrissy's sister was screaming,

chrissy ran in and there was blood all over!! the blood was backing

back up the line from her port!! chrissy called the home care nurse

who told her to get to the hospital with her (mean while she was

turning pale, and her sugar was down to 80 and dropping). she got

her there and they were all ready for her since the nurse had called

and told them she was coming.

turns out maddie had a blood clot in the vein with the port!! they

dont know why because she is getting heprin 24 hrs a day with the

TPN. they put something in to disolve it but it will take 24hrs to

do it. she also had a fever when she got there, but she was at the

peds and had shots that day as well, so they dont know if it is from

that or if she has an infection. so they took blood but ti will

take 48hrs to find out (have to wait to see if the culture grows).

to be on the safe side they put her on erthomyicin(sp?) but she had

an allergic reaction to it!! so they have to give her benedryll on

top of it!!

she will have to be there until atleast mon. before they find out if

there is an infection or not!! PLEASE PRAY THAT IT ISNT AN

INFECTION!!! BECAUSE IF IT IS SHE HAS TO HAVE THAT PORT OUT AND

THEN THEY HAVE TO YET AGAIN FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO PUT A NEW ONE!!

she must have this port until they can get her in to cornell in oct

after dr h gets back from vacation to have her tube redone!!

her older brother is having some trouble in school which we believe

is stemming from all of this going on lately!! and none of the kids

seam to be able to have a birthday without poor maddie ending up in

the hospital (chrissy joked that she was going to cancel all

birthday from now on!!!)
