Guest guest
The information from Theresa is absolutely right about this being a queue system and, thankfully, also about being moved ahead if in crisis. However, Quebec has it's own health care system that doesn't reciprocate with the rest of Canada. If your friend goes to Quebec she will probably have to self-pay unless she has private insurance. The good news is that all other provinces have reciprocal health care and what is covered in one province is covered in another. So if she goes to Dr. Colquhoun in Saskatoon, her costs will be almost nothing. I recommend she talk to OHIP regarding " out-of-province " coverage -- some people (one I know in BC) had to provide a " proof of medical necessity " to have the DS surgery instead of RNY. It's kind of a CYA thing. My consultation with Dr. Colquhoun was in September of this year and I was told there would be a three year wait. However, I know someone who waited only 6 months between consultation and surgery because of her more critical medical status. Wish her good luck for me.
