Guest guest
Thanks so much for your reply ne. While I was researching the hip dislocation on the internet I found a paper, titled " Musculoskeletal Manifestations of -Silver Syndrome - Abraham, MD,* Haluk Altiok, MD,* and P. Lubicky, MD† " which said that out of a group of 25 patients with RSS, 3 had developmental dysplasia of the hips, so I have now been able to prepare myself that this is likely to be what the osteo will tell us she has. There are worse things that could be wrong, and as you say, at least we are catching this before she cn walk. Thanks again, PS This paper has many other relevant sections eg. on limb length discrepancies etc. Not sure what the situation is about copyright (I bought it on from a medical paper internet site) or I would paste it. abarrie2002 wrote: Is there any chance the xray showed up anything RSS related that might be less serious? eg bone age/asymmetry? Hi Gillian, Whilst anything is possible in medicine, I'd hazard a guess and say probably not. 9 months is too young to determine any readings with bone age and asymmetry should not affect the maturity of the ball and socket joint in the hip. If it turns out that your daughter does have congenital hip dislocation, the fact that it wasn't picked up at birth or during the two scans she has had, could indicate that it is not as severe as some. Many hip dislocations are now successfully treated with a brace that goes over the outside of the nappy, rather than the casting that was common years ago. If your little girl is 9 months old now, it is important to get it seen to, before she starts pulling herself up to standing and cruising around furniture. Try and not worry about it, once treated, hip dislocation does not cause any problems in later life. ne --------------------------------- Yahoo!
