Guest guest
Dee Dee, I have the exact same story. Thank God Dr. Husted started performing the DS!! My husband and I attended the seminar, I was thinking of the Fobi, had thought the DS was the old " dangerous " procedure. Really hadn't researched much besides the " pouch " type surgeries. (Had just starting research, really. Was desperate enough to lose weight, that I was ready to do anything...) Anyway, my husband looked at me and said, " Why aren't you having the DS?????? " He was sold right away. After hearing Dr. Husted and further checking into DS, it was a " no brainer " for me. I was really not looking forward to chewing everything for " hours " , I was leary of never having sugar ever again. After I read the " regain " statistics, DS won hands down. Keeping the pyloric valve, eventually having normal size meals, being able to eat meat, being able to drink with meals. I could not find one thing better about the Fobi!! I have chronic constipation, so the idea of having soft BMs sounds like heaven to me. My gastroenterologist believes DS will be beneficial. AND I will be cured of my TypeII Diabetes!!!!!! Have you been to Dr. H's website? He compares both surgeries there, too. Please feel free to post any questions on his bulletin board also. I am " WandaJ " there. As soon as I get insurance approval, I will be scheduling my DS. If no approval, then I will go to Spain or Brazil, more than likely. I am so sold on DS, that I will not consider any other surgery. I have been researching and reading posts since July... Keep in touch! What ever you decide, just make sure you are well informed, that is the most important thing!! This is a major life time change! Wanda Pre-op DS BMI 47, wt 300# Dr Husted Nashville, TN BC/BS of TN - appealing denial I am considering the DS over the Fobi pouch since I > attended a seminar with Dr. Husted in Nashville TN on November 7th.
