Guest guest
I think I recall reading, some time ago, that Acidophilus is good in clearing out the bad bacteria in our bodies, and thus helps with the diarrhea. Is this true? Anyone know (Judie, are you the acidophilus expert on here? I don't remember)? I had thought so, so bought some prior to surgery. Have been taking 1-2 a day of some I bought from GNC labeled " Potent Acidophilus. " Any thoughts on the topic? At this point, with all my rumbling and running to the loo, I figured it couldn't hurt. Someone let me know if I'm wrong. Also, reading all the posts about soda, I have to confess to have been a soda fan too. Prior to surgery, I drank ~4 cans of Diet 7-up a day. Yes, including with breakfast (hey, I'm not much of a coffee fanatic, so cut me some slack). Anyway, I always liked to have the soda with my meals, in addition to lots of water. So, in the last week since surgery, I have tried a few sips here and there of the Diet 7-up. Figured it's caffeine-free, sugar-free, and I opened the cans up earlier to get rid of some of the carbonation. In all honesty, I'm sure not all was gone, by I did only have a few sips at a time. I'm sorry, but it still tastes pretty good to me. In fact, if I didn't think the carbonation was bad for me, I'd probably drink more than a few sips. But, I'm trying to refrain, for my stomach's sake. So, is it okay to have those few sips of caffeine and sugar free, semi-flat soda a day so early post-op? Jeez, I feel like I'm making another confession (like the sushi one-at this rate I'm going to have to develop a selective memory when I meet with Dr. Ren and her nutritionist in 2 weeks for my 3 week post-op visit!)I really don't want to blow a stitch/staple, but figured that 1/4 can day couldn't hurt. Is this wishful thinking? Oh, I'm bad. Suppose I should just suck it up and get the Crystal Light out of the cubboard. It doesn't do much good in there. ~ D. in NYC 11/6/01 with Dr. Ren
