Guest guest
Actually....I'm going to take exception to what Nick said. <laugh> I didn't do the damn research before I had the surgery....I had the " right " surgery by plain ol' dumb luck. I found out about gastric bypass trying to find out what the surgical risks were for someone with my health problems. I was so miserable that I wanted to go ahead and have my heart surgery so I could BREATHE again...and sleep again. I found a page on the internet about Gastric bypass, I went on to find a surgeon in the Northern Virginia area, and called and made an appointment the next day. He couldn't see me for, like, 2 months, so I called the next Doctor on the list, Dr. Elariny. He made an appointment for me for a week later. I went in to see him and he told me about the RNY. We went over it, and I decided to do it. I made another appointment for a couple of weeks later...at that one, he told me about this new surgery he was getting ready to try called the duodenal switch. He was going to a conference in June in New Orleans, and was going to talk to the doctors that had developed it...and described all of the benefits it offered. Did I want to try it? Hell YES I wanted to try it. So he did the surgery on July 5th of last year. I was the second DS he ever did, and the first he did lap. Just dumb luck. I have read a lot about it SINCE then, but....sometimes the universe works in strange ways. Ford
