Guest guest
Plain buckwheat is gf, but celiac books warn that buckwheat flour is often blended with wheat flour, or cross contaminated on the same mill lines. Bette Hagman uses kasha (buckwheat groats, not ground into flour) in some of her recipes for this reason. I have made buckwheat as a side dish and as a hot cereal, using kasha. I believe it is alkaline, though; useful info maybe if you have a high-acid child, or the opposite (in which case you might avoid using it.)
