Guest guest
Has anyone heard of this drug or has any experience with its trial on autism spectrum children? The reason I am asking this is because I read some article about cognitive development of the brain in the http://cogsci.soton.ac.uk/bbs/Archive/bbs.quartz.html web site. It is somewhat laborious to get the real relevant info out of the paper, but in section 3 the author outlines a very important developmental role for the neurotransmitter " Nitric Oxide " in development of the brain and learning process. So, I looked around to see what drug is out there that would promote the level of Nitric Oxide, and the only one I came across was Deprenyl. Interestingly enough Deprenyl is also suppoesed to increase the blood flow in the brain and enhance the body immune system; but right now is mostly prescribed for the Alzheimer patients. I found a couple of references of use of this drug with autism and ADHD kids. http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/13e786.htm also in Cognitive Enhancement Research Institute web site, there is a sighting of improvements in autism with Deprenyl. (http://www.ceri.com/back5.htm look under #47) I was wondering if anyone in the group has any experience with this drug. Thanks.
